The Kerala Police on Sunday arrested a 33-year-old man, Jamsher, for allegedly sexually harassing a woman in Kozhikode on October 18, PTI reported. The police said Jamsher was booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code that pertain to “sexual harassment, assault or criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe and stalking”.
He was arrested based on footage from a CCTV camera, the police said. The video of the harassment, which has gone viral on the internet, showed the man assaulting the woman in a narrow lane. He then fled as the woman tried to chase him down.
“The man, a painter by profession, was earlier involved in a couple of cases including stalking and indecent behaviour,” an unidentified police officer from North Kerala told the Hindustan Times.
