After Big Bang Theory actor Mayim Bialik’s controversial New York Times op-ed on sexual assault, Bollywood actor Tisca Chopra is the latest actor to be slammed for her comments on women and victim-blaming.
“I’m going to be very categorical when I say that women are just as much to blame, because they put themselves in those vulnerable positions,” the actor told The Print in an interview. “Why do these women go to hotel rooms? Do they not fear for their personal safety? Have they not heard of people’s reputations, and why do they engage with those men?” Addressing the recently trending #MeToo campaign that came on the heels of the Harvey Weinstein expose, the actor added that women should say no point blank. She further went on to question the need for women to be alone with “men like that”.
Chopra’s comments led to criticism on Twitter.
