At least six people were injured after a bridge linking Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba town with Pathankot in Punjab, collapsed on Thursday, ANI reported. Faulty construction or poor quality of the material used could have caused the collapse, said Chamba Deputy Commissioner Sudesh Mokhta, according to The Hindu.
A car, a mini truck and a motorcycle were on the 15-year-old bridge when the accident took place. The injured were admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital.
The double-lane bridge is located in Parel, six kilometers from Chamba town and some 450 km from Shimla, IANS reported. The bridge was inaugurated in 2005 by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
