India, on Thursday, lost their numero uno status in International Cricket Council One-day International rankings. According to the updated rankings, by virtue of South Africa’s 104-run win over Bangladesh in the second ODI in Paarl, the Proteas jumped to the top spot, leapfrogging India.
While India and South Africa have collected identical 120 points, Virat Kohli’s side is placed second on the basis of decimal points. The Men in Blue had jumped to the top spot following their dominant 4-1 win over Australia in a five-match series at home.
However, India have a chance to reclaim their place at the top of the pile as they host Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in a three-match ODI series, scheduled to begin in Mumbai on October 22.
