The body of a bartender, who went missing five days ago, was found chopped into pieces inside a refrigerator at his friend’s house in South Delhi’s Mehrauli on Saturday, The Indian Express reported.
The victim, Vipin Chand Joshi, went missing on October 9, the police said. His friend, Badal Mandal, in whose house the body was found, is absconding. A meat chopper was found in the apartment, the report said.
The police began to look for Joshi after his brother filed a missing persons complaint on October 12. They found that Joshi and Mandal worked in a South Delhi restaurant as bartenders. Both had left work together on October 9.
“Late on Saturday afternoon, we got a call about a foul smell from a house in Saidulajab,” the Hindustan Times quoted Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) Chinmoy Biswal as saying. The team that went to Mandal’s house found it locked from the outside. They broke the door open to find blood all over the house. The refrigerator door was left open, and it had large chopped up pieces of a man’s body, the police said.
The suspect lived with his wife and two children, but recently sent them to their hometown in West Bengal, The Indian Express report said. A team has been sent to West Bengal to find him, Biswal said.
