The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant had been arrested in connection with a grenade attack on state minister Naeem Akhtar’s convoy on September 21.
Two civilians were killed and 30 people were injured in the grenade blast near a bus stand in Tral in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on September 21, the police had said. Some media reports had put the toll at three. The injured include seven personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, two policemen and 21 civilians.
The attack took place when the suspected militants hurled the grenade at the convoy of Public Works Minister Naeem Akhtar near a bus stand. Akhtar was in the town to inaugurate a project. Some shots were fired in the air to prevent any further attack, Superintendent of Police Zahid Malik had said.
