Even though the Indian team’s U-17 Football World Cup campaign might officially be over, memories of the fervour among the team’s supporters remain. Just recently, Indian football fans in New Delhi “took over” a coach while travelling on the Violet line of the Delhi Metro and filmed it (above).
They took the famous Liverpool chant Oh When The Reds Go Marchin’ In – itself derived, of course, from the classic Oh When The Saints Go Marchin’ In – and gave it a blue twist. And when another passenger on the train asked them to sing in Hindi, then promptly broke into a verse of Hum Honge Kaamiyab. Not quite the perfect translation, but just as effective – and, one hopes, prescient.
