Vishal Krishna, president of the Tamil Film Producers Council, is expected to propose a new set of regulations to theatres in Tamil Nadu on Friday, Sify reported. The producers council is expected to propose that theatres be prohibited from charging for parking and also to call for a reduction in online booking price. Food items in canteens will have to be sold at the Maximum Retail Price and audiences will be allowed to carry water bottles into theatres.
The Tamil Film Producers Council is on a strike against the state government’s decision to impose an entertainment tax of 10% on upcoming Tamil films and 20% on non-Tamil productions, in addition to Goods and Services Tax. Due to the strike, theatre owners in Chennai have reportedly re-released older films like Ram’s Taramani and Pushkar-Gayathri’s Vikram Vedha.
