A 22-year-old man in Telangana was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping and murdering a six-year-old girl who was on her way to school, PTI reported.
The police said Shiva Kumar confessed to taking the child to a field, raping her twice and then pushing her into a well on Wednesday afternoon. “The girl goes to a nearby primary school,” PTI quoted Zaheerabad Deputy Superintendent of Police N Ravi as saying. “She had gone home for her lunch break, and was on her way back when she was attacked. When she did not return after school, her mother started searching for her and later registered a missing persons report,” Ravi said.
The police spoke to people on the route she usually takes to school, NDTV reported. Some residents told them they had seen the girl with Kumar, the report said. After they arrested Kumar, the police recovered the girl’s body from the well on Thursday.
