Russian weapons-maker Kalashnikov Concern, known for the infamous AK-47 and other arms, is branching out into other products with its newly-unveiled “hover bike” (video above). The company reportedly demonstrated its prototype, which it is calling a “flying car”.
At the moment, the vehicle resembles a drone. The contraption consists of eight rotors joined together by a skeletal frame, a couple of joysticks, and what appears to be a pair of batteries located under the rider. Conspicuous by its absence: a petrol or diesel engine.
The test run was conducted in the presence of Sergei Chemezov, who heads Rostec Corporation, the state-owned military conglomerate which owns Kalashnikov.
This isn’t the first hover bike being tested, though. Earlier in 2017, the Russian start-up Hovercraft presented a more elegant prototype.
