The second unofficial ODI between India A and New Zealand A ended in a tie after a thrilling last over on Tuesday in Visakhapatnam.
Captain Shreyas Iyer (90) and Ankit Bawne (83) made solid half centuries, as India finished their innings on 269/9 in response to New Zealand’s 269/6 in the rain-shortened, 42-over a side match.
Earlier, Glen Philipps had scored an unbeaten 140 off 130 balls after the visitors won the toss and chose to bowl. His century included 15 fours and four sixes.
It seemed unlikely that India A would challenge the score much after being reduced 84/5 after Scott Kuggeleijn (3/56) and Todd Astle (4/22) ripped through the top order. Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Shreevats Goswami, Vijay Shankar all fell early.
But Iyer and Bawne put together a partnership of 126 runs to give the hosts a chance. With 60 needed off the last 10 overs, Iyer fell for 90 off 73 balls. However, Bawne held his nerve despite the fall of wickets and combined with Siddharth Kaul to bring the India level.
Earlier, the series opener was washed out.
