Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Akshay Kumar will team up for the period film Kesari, which is based on the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897. Directed by Anurag Singh (Super Singh), the film will revisit the encounter between 21 Sikh soldiers and 10,000 Afghani tribesmen on September 12, 1897, at the Saragarhi outpost in the North-West Frontier Province. Akshay Kumar will co-produce the movie apart from playing the lead role. The production is aiming for a 2019 release.
Randeep Hooda is also starring in Rajkumar Santoshi’s movie on the same subject, titled Battle of Saragarhi. Ajay Devgn too is reportedly circling the same subject.
