Suspected militants fired on an Indian Army camp at Longding in Arunachal Pradesh early on Tuesday, a defence spokesperson told PTI. The attackers fired five to 10 rounds from “ineffective small firearms” and lobbed a grenade at the Army Company Operating Base at Niausa in Longding district around 1.15 am, said Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer.
The troops retaliated and the attackers fled, Konwer said. “There was no casualties or damage to the Company Operating Base’s property. The retaliatory fire had to be controlled keeping in mind the safety of the villagers in the vicinity.”
Operations are on to trace the attackers, Konwer added.
