Texas Tech had asked students, faculty and staff present on campus to take shelter after it ordered a lock down. A special weapons and tactics team was deployed to search for the suspect, Lubbock police Officer J Rodgers told Reuters. The administration has lifted the lock down order.
Campus police found evidence of drugs and other banned substances during an inspection, University spokesman Chris Cook said. Officers took the suspect to the campus police station, where the accused shot an officer dead and fled the scene, AP reported.
