Singer Palash Sen, who made his debut as a director with the short film Jiya Jale, has been accused of plagiarism by filmmaker Bhargav Saikia, Mid-Day reported. Saikia has alleged that Sen has used some shots from his 2016 production Kaafiron Ki Namaaz for the short film.
Sen has used shots that were taken for the feature film in 2012, but didn’t make it to the final edit of Kaafiron Ki Namaaz, Saikia claimed in a Facebook post. “Though Dr Sen’s film is set in Kashmir, they shot in Himachal Pradesh,” he told Mid-Day. “Since they wanted to depict Kashmir, they used few visuals from my film. My lawyer has sent them a legal notice.”
Sen countered the allegations. “The cinematography and visuals are all original,” he told Mid-Day. “I’d want to have a word with him to understand what he’s referring to. If he wants to take the legal route, I have no problem. But I would want to resolve the matter outside court.”
