Pratul Joshi and Mugdha Agrey lifted the singles titles in the All India Ranking Badminton Championship at Guntur on Friday. Karnataka’s Poorvisha S Ram had K Nanda Gopal earned a runner-up and a title win to show for their efforts.
In the men’s singles finals, Madhya Pradesh’s Joshi beat Kerala’s Kiran George 22-20, 21-17 in close encounter that lasted 45 minutes. In the women’s finals, Maharashtra’s Mugdha Agrey beat Andhra Pradesh’s Sai Uttejitha Rao 21-15, 24-22 in a 38-minute battle.
Kidambi Srikanth’s brother Nanda Gopal and K Tarun registered a comfortable 21-8, 21-13 win against Chaitanya Reddy and Hemanagandra Babu to win the men’s doubles finals. In the women’s doubles finals, Aparna Balan and KP Sruthi beat Meghna Jakkampudi and Poorvisha 21-13, 21-16.
Nanda Gopal finished as a runner-up in the mixed doubles event as the Guntur local, along with Mahima Agarwal lost to Shivam Sharma and Poorvisha 22-20, 10-21, 13-21 in an exhausting 53-minute match.
