The trailer for Jia aur Jia is replete with elements common to road trip dramas, including a freewheeling bohemian who knows how to have fun, a staid rule abider who needs to loosen up, and several epiphanies in stunning European locations.
Directed by Howard Rosemayer, Jia Aur Jia chronicles the friendship between two starkly different women who have the same name. Intrepid Jia (Kalki Koechlin) meets uptight banker Jia (Richa Chaddha) on a flight to Sweden and the duo themselves stuck with each other for the duration of the trip. As Koechlin’s Jia pulls a series of quirky stunts, the quieter Jia learns to let her hair down and face the traumatic events of her past.
The film will also reportedly feature a recreated version of Mohammed Rafi’s classic song Jia Ho Jia Kuch Bol Do from the Dev Anand starrer Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai. Presented by Blue Fox Motion Pictures, Jia aur Jia will be released on October 27.
