A Belgian engineering student, Ilhan Unal, has built the largest, fully functional Game Boy gaming console in the world. And it’s funny functional – even network gaming is enabled.

The 21-year-old Ilhan took just a month in a laboratory to build the impressive console. Of course, he designed it on his computer first.

Just how big is big, though? Well, this Game Boy is absolutely massive, coming in at around 6.75 times the size of the traditional Nintendo console. And its volume of 120 litres is about twice as much as a human body’s.

“The Game Boy was a huge part of many people’ss childhood, including my own,” Ilhan said. “I was obsessed with my Game Boy as a kid, so I wanted to create something that would put a smile on little Ilhan’s face, and hopefully on the face of anyone who is a big kid at heart.”

It is in fact a huge serving of nostalgia for many. Stephen Daultrey, the editor of Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition, said, “This giant Game Boy is a fantastic example of tech-nostalgia at its very best, leaving most other consoles and gadgets quite literally in the shade.”
