The Western Railway has set up a committee to investigate the incident of the speeding train that went past the flooded Nallasopara station in Mumbai on Wednesday, drenching commuters waiting on the platform in the process.
“A committee of three senior-level officers is investigating the incident,” Ravinder Bhakar, chief spokesperson for the Western Railway, said according to the Hindustan Times.
The video of the train, which appears to be running at a frightening speed, was shot by a commuter on the platform. The clip went viral on Wednesday, when both rail and flight services in Mumbai were severely affected by heavy rain.
Unidentified railway officials had earlier denied that the train had passed the station at high speed. They claimed that it only appeared to be speeding because the video was shot from close range, NDTV reported.
