External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said that acts of terrorism can never be justified, reported ANI. While speaking at the ad-hoc Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting of foreign ministers in New York, she said, “India strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
Swaraj emphasised that connectivity with other member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was one of India’s main priorities, and that India wanted connectivity to pave way for cooperation and trust.
The external affairs minister met her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the meeting. She held bilateral talks with Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani Swaraj and also met Moldova Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur, Brazilian Minister of Foreign Relations Aloysio Nunes Ferreira and Saudi Arabian Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir.
Swaraj, who reached New York City on Monday, will represent India at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly session and address the forum on September 23.
During her week-long stay in New York, she was scheduled to hold talks with Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics, among other leaders.
