A suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested on Wednesday from Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, the police told PTI. Aadil Ahmed Bhat, a resident of the Jiblipora area in Bijbehara, was picked up from Bijbehara railway station.
“Bhat was on the run for sometime. Today, based on inputs he was arrested from the station in a joint operation by security forces,” said an unidentified police officer, according to The Times of India.
The joint operation came six days after security forces killed militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba’s commander Abu Ismail, who is believed to have planned the attack in Amarnath. Forces had also gunned down another militant, identified as Abu Kasim, during the encounter in Nowgam sector of Anantnag district on September 14.
