The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday refused to stay the arrests of the owners of Gurugram’s Ryan International School, where a Class 2 student was found murdered on September 8, ANI reported. The court issued a notice to the Haryana government asking for a reply in the case.

The Ryan Group’s Chief Executive Officer Ryan Pinto and his parents Augustine Pinto and Grace Pinto had filed petitions for anticipatory bail on September 16. On September 14, the Bombay High Court had rejected their pleas.

On Monday, Justice AB Chaudhari of the Punjab and Haryana High Court recused himself from hearing their bail petition as he said he knew the Pintos personally.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has written to the Centre, seeking an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case.

Ryan International School will remain closed till September 24 as the boy’s father Varun Thakur had approached the Supreme Court, saying vital evidence would be destroyed.

An autopsy report had revealed that the seven-year-old boy had died because of the injuries inflicted to his neck by a sharp-edged weapon. The boy’s trachea and food pipe were damaged in the attack, according to the report.

So far, the police have arrested bus conductor Ashok Kumar for allegedly murdering the student. Two other officials of the school have also been taken into custody.
