Nigel Stanford’s band-mates are not your average musicians. They’re robots.
For his new album Automatica, Standford devoted a month to teaching robots in his garage to play piano keys, guitars and drums. They were even taught to operate percussion foot pedals.
Stanford has long been intrigued by the connection between music and technology. He got the robots from German-based Kuka Robotics, and did his own engineering.
“I think it’s important to come at the scientific aspects from the perspective of a musician,” he said.
