The body of a location manager for the drug-themed show Narcos was found with numerous gunshot wounds in a part of Mexico that has gained notoriety for drug-related crimes.

Carlos Muñoz Portal, who was 37, was scouting locations for the Netflix show’s fourth season at a site near Hidalgo in Mexico. His body was found riddled with bullets in his car, Variety reported.

Narcos has been on air since 2015. The first two seasons focused on the reign of terror of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. The new season, which has been streaming on Netflix since September 1, is about the Cali Cartel, which was formed by breakaways from Escobar’s Medellin gang.

Netflix issued the following statement: “We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate.”
