HBO’s acclaimed political comedy series Veep will end with Season 7, reported Variety. This news comes just four months after the network renewed the series for its upcoming season, which is scheduled to premiere in 2018.
The comedy features American actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer, a former Senator who comes to terms with her new position of being the Vice President of the United States of America.
“The decision to bring Veep to a close at the end of next season is bittersweet,” said the president of HBO programming, Casey Bloys. “We love the show and everyone involved but respect the producers’ choice to bring Selina Meyer’s journey to its conclusion after an extraordinary run of critical and award-winning acclaim. Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ comedic brilliance infused Selina with a dynamic presence and a vibrant wit which will ensure her a place in the history of television’s most iconic comedic characters. We look forward to producing the seventh and final season.”
The series has bagged 12 Primetime Emmy Awards since it began airing in 2012. Veep also stars Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons and Kevin Dunn.
