Despite his prodigious skill, an often overlooked weapon in Roger Federer’s armoury is his serve.
Federer’s service game is one of the strongest in history. He wins 89% of all his service games regardless of the surface he’s playing on. On average, Federer wins 77% of his first serves and 10% of them are aces.
Coupled with this efficiency is perhaps the greatest example of a tennis serve. The motion is effortless and smooth. It’s a classical rotation with no extreme movements. This disguises the vicious power that he unleashes when his racket meets the ball.
He maybe out of the US Open, but there is little to compete with this serve.
