India’s Ankur Mittal made the finals of the double trap event in the ISSF World Championship
(Shotgun) in Moscow on Tuesday. Mittal topped the qualification charts as he scored 145 in five rounds with scores of 28, 30, 29, 30, 28. He was followed by China’s Hu Binyuan who shot 144 in the qualification round.
It was a good day overall for India as the juniors bagged gold in the team. Shardul Vihan, Ahvar Rizvi and Shapath Bharadwaj scored a combined total of 401 to bag the yellow medal. Italy and China grabbed second and third spot respectively. Vihan and Rizvi also start one and two in the final of the individual event.
However, India couldn’t bag a medal in the senior event despite Mittal’s good showing as teammates Sangram Dahiya (135) and Mohd Anas (133) finished a lowly 20th and 23rd respectively.
