La La Land director Damien Chazelle will produce a musical drama series called The Eddy and direct two episodes of the show, reported Variety. The Eddy will premiere on Netflix.
The series will revolve around a club, its owner, the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them, added the publication. With dialogue in English, French and Arabic, the eight-episode series set in Paris will be written by Jack Thorne, a five-time recipient of the awards presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Emmy Award-winner Glen Ballard will write the original score.
Eric Barmack, the vice president of Netflix Originals also told the publication that in terms of atmosphere and tone, the series would fall between Chazelle’s Whiplash (2014) and La La Land (2016). He added that Netflix will soon be announcing around eight new European original series.
