At least seven people were killed after suicide bombers attacked a state-run power station near Baghdad on Saturday. The attack was claimed by the Islamic State group, Reuters reported quoting unidentified officials. Thirteen others were injured in the attack that took place on the first day of Eid al-Adha feast.
Three gunmen wearing explosive vests and wearing military uniforms targeted the power station early on Saturday and entered the facility using grenades. One of the suicide bombers detonated his vest near a power generator, setting it on fire, when he was cornered by the security forces.
Of the deceased, four were policeman and three were staff at the power station. Several tanker trucks were damaged in the attack and the houses where some employees of the power plant were sleeping were also destroyed, AFP reported.
