The government on Thursday extended the deadline for citizens to link their Aadhaar number with their Permanent Account Number to December 31. The Centre had extended the last date to August 31 on August 13.
An Income Tax Department official had said on August 5, which was the deadline to file Income Tax Returns, that more than 9.3 crore PAN-Aadhaar numbers had been linked till then.
The Centre had made linking Aadhaar with PAN compulsory to file I-T Returns and for any bank transaction over Rs 50,000.
