The 2017 Badminton World Championships have come to an end. The Championships started with a bang, second-seeded Lee Chong Wei losing to journeyman Brice Leverdez of France. Lin Dan survived various scares on his way to another final while Saina Nehwal gamely fought on, defying pre-tournament expectations, finishing with a bronze medal.
Super Dan would eventually lose to Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the final, but the women’s singles final went a long distance and then some. In what was possibly a once-in-a-generation match, Nozomi Okuhara triumphed over PV Sindhu as Glasgow and viewers back home sat back and watched in awe.
