Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation court in Ranchi in connection with the fodder scam case, reported ANI. Yadav has now decided to file a petition to move the case to the Patna High Court, The Indian Express reported.

“We have filed a petition that we have lost faith in the [CBI] court and an impartial trial will not be done,” his lawyer said, according to ANI. “We are moving to the High Court.”

More than Rs 900 crore in public funds had been siphoned off from the Chaibasa treasury for over two decades during Lalu Prasad’s reign as chief minister. Yadav was also found guilty of fraudulent withdrawals worth Rs 37.70 crore from the Chaibasa treasury.

There is a state of undeclared emergency in the country: Lalu Prasad Yadav

Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday said he would like to see how the Centre deals with the recent case of mob lynching and cow vigilantism in Bihar on Thursday. Three men were beaten up by alleged members of the Bajrang Dal on suspicion of carrying beef in Bihar’s Bhojpur district on Thursday.

“The Gau Rakshak thrashed people in the name of cow protection and beef in Bhojpur,”said Yadav, according to ANI. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that he would take stern action. Let’s see what stern action he would take.”

Yadav said the raids at his properties were done with the sole purpose of terrorising him. “There is a state of undeclared emergency in the country, with Opposition party leaders being singled out and targeted,” he said, the Hindustan Times reported. “The Centre’s dictatorship has gradually spread to nearly 75% of the nation.”

He also called for I-T raids on Bollywood actors’ premises and 422 other Indians who were named in the Panama papers for alleged tax evasion.
