Former champions U Mumba eked out a thrilling 29-28 win over debutants Haryana Steelers in the fifth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League on Sunday, PTI reported.
Kashiling Adake (7 points) and captain Anup Kumar (6) starred for the Mumbai outfit, who lost their opening match against hosts Telugu Titans on Friday. Tacklers Surinder Singh (four) and Joginder Narwal (three) too chipped in with valuable contributions for U Mumba. Vikash Khandola (6) and Wazir Singh (six) were the key raiders for Haryana, while Surender Nada (5) and Rakesh Kumar Singh (3) played a key role in defence.
Bulls thump Titans
Telugu Titans continued to lose pace in the league after going down 31-21 against Bengaluru Bulls in the second match of the day. Bulls skipper Rohit Kumar was in impressive form and pocketed as many as 12 points from the 18 raids he attempted. Ajay Kumar too, was a menace in the Titans’ territory, bagging seven points.
Despite the Titans slumping to their second consecutive loss, captain Rahul Chaudhari, reached a new millestone, becoming the first player to effect 500 touch points in the history of the league. Chaudhari added two points before the end of the game. It was a tight game in the first half with only a few points separating the sides with advantage swinging back and forth. However, the second half turned to be a no-contest as Kumar turned on the style.
