India’s junior tennis players, Siddhant Banthia and Zeel Desai are on course to be among the medals at the Commonwealth Youth Games currently underway in the Bahamas. The two have made it to the semi-finals of their individual events as well as the mixed doubles category where they are competing as a team, the Hindu reported.
Siddhant beat Papa New Guinea’s Matthew Stubbings 6-1, 6-1 to reach the last-eight stage where he will face Hamish Stewart of Scotland.
Meanwhile, Zeel defeated Adetayo Sherifa Adetunji of Nigeria 6-3, 6-0 to advance. She will next face England’s Indianna Jane Spink for a place in the final.
The two later combined to beat Namibian pair of Codie Schalk Van Schalkwyk and Georgina Carliz Moolman 6-2, 6-0 to reach the semi-finals of the mixed-doubles event.
