The Opposition on Wednesday will bring up six subjects to discuss in Parliament, where the Monsoon Session is on. The Centre had agreed to discuss incidents of mob lynchings and attacks on Dalits in the Rajya Sabha, whereas farmer suicides and the agrarian criris will be taken up in the Lok Sabha, The Indian Express reported.
The Opposition had decided to bring up these matters as part of a floor strategy. They also plan to raise subjects such as the Sikkim standoff with China, the attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, the effects of demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax, and also the Centre’s use of the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate to allegedly “target” Opposition leaders.
The Monsoon Session, which began on Monday, got off to an unproductive start. Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday after her speech on atrocities against Dalits was interrupted in the House by Deputy Chairperson PJ Kurien.
