Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders have requested party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to “sit together” and resolve the ongoing crisis in the grand alliance, reported IANS on Monday.
RJD leader and former Union Minister Ragunath Jha said the two leaders needed to “talk to each other to end the crisis”, while another party member Shivanand Tiwari appealed to Kumar to “save the Mahagathbandhan from a split”.
Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar, however, said, “Coalitions may see tensions and pressures but everything is all right in the grand alliance.”
Meanwhile, JD(U) state president Vashisht Narain Singh said that Nitish Kumar “hardly spoke” about Tejashwi Yadav and the crisis in the grand alliance during a meeting with his party legislators and senior party leaders in Patna on Sunday. Similarly, Lalu Yadav also did not say anything about the alliance during a meeting with his party leaders.
A major rift had erupted in the coalition after the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a corruption case against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. The JD(U) had given the RJD until Saturday to come clean on the allegations against Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav.
