Swati, believed to be the oldest tigress in India, died at the age of 21 at Guwahati State Zoo in Assam on Sunday, ANI reported. In tiger years, her age was equivalent to 100 human years, a zoo official told the news agency.
The Royal Bengal tigress was born at the Mysore Zoo in 1998, The Indian Express reported. “Swati was the oldest living tiger till she breathed her last in the wee hours of Sunday,” Divisional Forest Officer Tejas Mariswamy told the English daily.
Her carcass was incinerated.
