The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday detained Peoples Democratic Party MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir’s driver for questioning in connection with the attack on Amarnath Yatra victims, ANI reported. Superintendent of Police (Shopian) Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar said Touseef had been given the job with the legislator seven months ago, and that he had been detained in a terror-related case.
This comes a day after the state police set up a Special Investigation Team to carry out an inquiry into Monday’s militant strike, in which seven pilgrims were killed and 18 others were injured. It will be headed by Deputy Inspector General (South Kashmir) SP Pani and include Senior Superintendent of Police (Anantnag) Altaf Ahmad Khan.
Security forces have been on the lookout for a suspected Lash-e-Taiba militant Abu Ismail, who is believe to have planned the attack in Anantnag district.
