The Centre on Friday released Rs 51.30 crore to Arunachal Pradesh after flash floods wreaked havoc in the state, PTI reported. The funds were released as an advance grant-in-aid for rescue and relief operations, the Finance Ministry said.
The money will go to the State Disaster Response Fund. The advance grant-in-aid was recommended by the 14th Finance Commission. Another report said that the Centre had also released a second installment of Rs 30 lakh to the state.
The floods in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur have affected 58 districts. “The damage caused by the rainfall is unprecedented,” Union minister Jitendra Singh had said after reviewing the delgue in the North East.
