Over 70% of Indians had faith in the Narendra Modi government in 2016, says a report published by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. However, the figures show that trust in the Indian government fell by 10% since 2007.
For its Government at a Glance 2017 study, OECD surveyed 41 countries on the parameter of “confidence in government”. Switzerland and Indonesia topped the chart, with around 80% of the people trusting their governments.
The United States government led by President Donald Trump had the support of just around 30% of the people. The United Kingdom government, which is in the midst of Brexit negotiations, had the confidence of over 40% of its citizens in 2016.
Greece, which had to bear the brunt of the immigration crisis while struggling with a failing economy, is at the bottom of the table with just over 10% of citizens expressing confidence in it.
