The National Company Law Tribunal on Thursday reinstated Vikram Bakshi as the Managing Director of Connaught Plaza Restaurant Limited, which runs McDonald’s outlets in North and East India, the Financial Express reported. Bakshi had had a disagreement with the US-based food chain over the management of CPRL, and was removed on August 6, 2013 after a general meeting.
“The status of Vikram Bakshi as managing director of CPRL is restored,” said a two-member bench headed by its President Justice MM Kumar. Former Supreme Court judge GS Singhvi was also appointed administrator in the company with the power to vote.
“He [Bakshi] shall continue to act as the managing director of CPRL subject to passing of any resolution under the chairmanship of the administrator,” the tribunal said, according to PTI. “All steps taken in pursuance of non-election of Vikram Bakshi as managing director are also declared illegal, unlawful, unjust and malicious.”
