India’s largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services has decided to shut its operations centre in Lucknow, ANI reported on Thursday. The company is likely to shift most of its projects to Noida, Indore or any other facility in the country. The move is likely to affect 2,000 IT professionals working at the Lucknow centre. Staff members said they had been informed about the decision by their team leaders on Wednesday.
“We are consolidating our Uttar Pradesh operations,” said a TCS spokesperson, according to Business Standard. “There have neither been any job losses nor have we asked anyone to quit.”
On Wednesday, TCS Vice President Tej Paul Bhatla met various project managers in Lucknow and asked them to finish their programmes by December or shift to the centres in Indore, Noida and continue working there, reported News 18.
