The Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested a man for public indecency. He was taken into custody for masturbating while looking at a woman at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The accused has been produced before the CST Railway Court, ANI reported.
The incident took place on June 29 when the woman had reached the station at 5.45 am to catch a 6.15 am train. She approached a policeman nearby after she noticed his actions, but the officer took no action and is believed to have told her to sit someplace.
The police took action only after the woman filmed the man and tweeted the video to the Ministry of Railways. She told The Quint that authorities took action only after the video got media attention.
The police are also looking to take action against the officer who did not take the incident seriously at the railway station.
