Indian stock markets hit new record highs in Thursday’s trade. The BSE Sensex closed 232.56 points up at 32,037.38, while the NSE Nifty50 ended 75.60 points up at 9,891.70.
The drop in June’s retail inflation and dovish statements from United States Federal Reserve System Chairperson Janet Yellen about a slower-than-expected rate hike were factors that helped the markets climb.
The top five Sensex gainers were ITC, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and Larsen & Toubro, while the major losers were ONGC, Asian Paints, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Coal India.
Asian and European stocks traded in green, as well.
