Sachin Tendulkar’s 17-year-old son, Arjun Tendulkar gave England batsman Jonny Bairstow an injury scare two days before the first England-South Africa Test with a yorker that pinned him on the foot, reported Daily Mail on Wednesday.
The England batsman was practising in the nets at Lord’s, the venue of the first Test, when Tendulkar, a left-arm pacer pinned him on the foot and forced him to hobble off. Fortunately, it did not prove to be a serious injury and Bairstow recovered to play the first Test.
Unlike his father who was among the greatest batsmen in world cricket, the younger Arjun Tendulkar has fashioned a career in left-arm pace, even impressing former Pakistani left-arm pace great Wasim Akram. He has represented the Mumbai Under-14 and Under-16 teams and has often practised at the Lord’s nets in the past.
