Music composer Pritam and director Anurag Basu have always crafted magic whenever they have come together. After Gangster (2006), Life In A... Metro (2007) and Barfi! (2012), the duo has returned with Jagga Jasoos. Each new song from a soundtrack that allegedly comprises 29 songs unravels the kind of variety the partnership has produced. The musical also stars Katrina Kaif and Saurabh Shukla and will be released on July 14.
Coming after the dance number Ullu Ka Pattha, the boys’ anthem Galti Se Mistake and the romantic track Jhumritalaiyya, Phir Wahi focuses on the relationship between Jagga (Ranbir Kapoor) and Bagchi (Saswata Chatterjee), who takes care of him during his childhood and then disappears. The solo Arijit Singh number begins with a piano riff that cushions Singh’s wispy vocals. Just as Singh’s voice gets louder, the strings enter, followed by percussion. The accompanying video shows Jagga reminiscing about the times he spent as a child with Bagchi.
