Ashim Ahluwalia’s Daddy, the hotly anticipated biopic of Mumbai crime boss Arun Gawli, was originally scheduled to be released on July 21. But a request made by Geeta Gawli, the gangster’s daughter, has resulted in the date being changed to September 8. Reports suggest that the request was made because Geeta felt that her father would be released on parole in September and would be able to publicise about the film better.
Ahluwalia’s passion project has been in production for close to three years. It has been produced by Arjun Rampal, and the actor plays the part of the Mumbai gangster. The new release date allows Apoorva Lakhia’s Haseena, a biopic of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar, to be out earlier. Haseena will be released on August 18.
