Four college students allegedly raped their classmate and filmed the incident in Telangana, the police told PTI on Tuesday. They have registered a case of gangrape and booked the accused under other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The crime took place on July 2 when the 17-year-old had gone to Khammam city to attend a friend’s birthday party. The girl, who studies in the same private college, on Monday lodged a complaint at the Khammam III Town Police Station.
All four accused are above 18 years of age.
The complainant told the police that the accused had not only filmed the incident, but had also threatened her to not disclose the rape to anyone.
The police have refused to reveal whether any arrests have been made in the case or whether a suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
