The lightsaber prop used by actor Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back has sold for $4,50,000 (Rs 29.8 million). It was bought by the Orlando-based Ripley company, according to the Orlando Sentinel, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
The prob was part of the collection owned by producer Gary Kurtz and may be on display at one of the locations of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! franchise in the United States. However, the locations have not yet been revealed.
But the biggest Star Wars item auctioned during the week was an original R2-D2 unit used for the original trilogy. It was sold for nearly $3 million (Rs 193 million) through Profiles in History auction house.
