Young Indian shuttlers Siril Verma and Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli went down fighting in the pre-quarterfinals of the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold on Thursday, PTI reported.
Kudaravalli lost to local player Shuo Sun Yung 20-22, 13 -21 in the women’s singles second round.
It was a minor upset in the men’s singles when 16th seed Verma went down against Malaysian Lee Zii Jia 12-21, 16-21 in a match lasting 28 minutes.
With Thursday’s results, India’s challenge in the tournament came to end, with Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka, 15th seed Abhishek Yelegar, Mumbai’s Harsheel Dani and men’s doubles pair of Nikhar Garg and Ankur Sangpang Rai having already bowed out in the earlier rounds.
